Anna's Boudoir Experience

Anna Shares the Story of Her Boudoir Session

Ready to book?!

I at first wanted to book a boudoir session as a sexy surprise for my husband and an opportunity for me to work on myself with an end date.  But as I kept looking at Mal's work and being a part of her group, HER, it became really evident that I needed this for me and I needed to celebrate the journey my body had gone on.  I also had never been professionally photographed in this manner and I was excited at the idea that I could feel really sexy.

I have always been pretty confident and I tend to exude that.  After having two kids, my body was just no longer what it used to be.  It didn't look "bad" by any means, but it wasn't "normal" and I hated the way I was picking myself apart all of the time.

Leading up to my boudoir session, I was pumped to be honest.  I am comfortable being naked, I never had nerves or insecurities going into it, but I understand why someone might be shy or uneasy.  My mindset also was that Mal and Amanda strive to celebrate all women and all bodies so I knew that the experience was going to have a lot of "good vibes" and positive energy.

The feeling I had when I first arrived to the studio was, so much respect.  I was there soon after Mal had gotten into the space and they had literally just completed some of the upstairs sets.  She clearly was busting her butt to get this space to be everything she was envisioning.  I mean, she was successfully able to have a true brick and mortar after only a short time in the boudoir world.  You couldn't feel anything but respect for all her hard work and hustle.

I keep it pretty natural when it comes to my makeup, so I put a lot of faith in Amanda to do something that still felt like me but would look great in photos.  I was a little unsure about how dark my lips were (which in fairness, they weren't that dark.  Just more than I was used to) and she said we could change or lighten up anything I wanted.  She truly thought this would look great with the highlighter getting captured and my complexion.  She was totally right and I'm so glad I went with it because my skin looked flawless and my lips didn't look washed out or way too dark at all!  They honestly looked almost natural!

My competitive side kind of came out because I really wanted to be the best client and push myself to do anything Mal thought would look awesome.  It was seriously a workout, but you feel like a damn goddess the whole time because she gets so pumped up with what we're creating and is the best hype-girl!  For one of my outfits I brought a pair of high waisted flair jeans and a lace bralette.  it's absolutely my esthetic and style and as much fun as I was having, it was equally as fun and encouraging to see Mal excited at what we're doing and knowing she was capturing me as an individual.

Rejuvenated.  I felt on top of the world, empowered, and like a freaking smoke show!  It's the way we all want to feel from time to time but it's like you get this macro-dose of serotonin and you just ride the high for a while, honestly.  All I could think is that if I feel this good now, I can't imagine how I'll feel when I get to see the final results.

The feeling I had once I saw my images, it was even better than I imagined.  Everything I felt during the shoot was absolutely brought to life on film.  Because it was my first time having a boudoir shoot it was great to see myself at different angles and from a different perspective than how I normally would assume I look and come across in the mirror.  Mal doesn't do much when it comes to editing either so it really is "YOU". and not a faux version of yourself.  It restored confidence in me that I felt when I was an athlete at 20.

This session secured my need to celebrate who I am and the accomplishments my body has achieved.  I'm still a pretty confident person and I try to live with a mindset of constant growth and learning.  This was another stepping stone in embracing life to the fullest!
