Why I Shoot Boudoir Photography

My "WHY" for Shooting Boudoir

Why Boudoir Photography?

The Transformation

A Little Piece of My Story

Ready to book?!

Sometimes, I find it hard to put into words why I shoot boudoir photography.  To me, it is so much more than photos.  It's about self-acceptance, body positivity, and art.  It is about allowing for yourself to be pampered for a day and laughing your butt off.  It's about the transformation that takes place between the time you walk into our studio and walk back out the door.  It is about feeling beautiful, confident, and sexy in your own skin - something that I believe every person deserves!

I’ve said it once and I will continue to say it again and again, boudoir has this super power that allows us to shake off all of the negative thoughts we have about our bodies and finally see them the way that our friends, family, and loved ones see us each and every day. This power comes from the emotion that is conveyed through the image and capturing YOUR STORY.

When emotion and story collide in the same image, it is an extremely powerful force that will leave both the subject and the viewer in awe.

If I could write a new definition of “boudoir photography” it would involve the word ‘transformation’. It is not only a transformation from the everyday look to a more glam, sensual or playful side of you, but a mental transformation as well. Everyone’s transformation is different, but each woman walks away changed after their boudoir session experience.

I see it in every single session. She walks into the studio and I can tell she is a little nervous. Once she settles into the hair and makeup chair, the nerves start to fade. She let’s go of the control and knows that my team and I have her and won’t let her down.

After the hair and make-up are complete and she slips into her first outfit the nerves can start to creep back in, but they quickly fade after she sees some of the first photos on the back of the camera. I can visibly see her shoulders relax and posture lift as she realizes that is REALLY her in the photo.

Once we wrap up the boudoir session and go into the reveal, we're friends.  We've just shared an experience that they will always remember.  We've laughed and shared stories about our lives and connected on a deep level.  They allowed themselves to be vulnerable in front of me, I held space... a safe space for them to do so, with no judgment - nothing but love and acceptance.  Many report that they feel like they are walking taller once they leave my studio. They have accomplished something that scared them, something that made them nervous, something they never thought they would do, but they did it and they were AMAZING! Boudoir photography is more than pretty and artistic pictures, it is about allowing yourself the space to transform from feelings of nervousness into accomplishment and confidence.

I humbly stumbled upon boudoir photography in September of 2020.  Little did I know how it would not only change my career... but my entire life and how I view the world and people!  I am not your typical photographer who carried a camera around everywhere and took pictures of everything.  I picked up a professional camera for the first time not very long ago in late 2019.  I quickly grew a passion for photography.  My LOVE for photography exploded when I got my taste for boudoir!  My first boudoir session actually turned into a marathon where I took pictures of 14 women in one day!  Not only did I have so much fun and my heart was on fire the entire time... after receiving so much positive feedback from those clients even BEFORE they had a chance to see their images confirmed what I already knew... I DISCOVERED MY CALLING.  I will forever be grateful to these women who I refer to as my "OG's".  They entrusted me when I had no idea what I was doing.  My craft has improved drastically since then.  I look back at those first boudoir images I took and chuckle.  It is a humble reminder of where I started.  One thing that can not be taught though, is how to hold space for others... to be authentic, real, and non judgmental in order to create space for others to be vulnerable.

That message, along with the many others from all the other women I took pictures of that beautiful September day was enough for me to realize I had a duty - to empower other women through the art of boudoir photography!  I just don't "take pictures".  I have created a community.  I have helped countless women see their beauty, rediscover their femininity and sexuality, start them on their self love journey, been a friend / mentor / therapist... I have helped to redefine "sexy" and shut down society's stigma and standards surrounding women's bodies.  Every single person deserves to feel confident in their own skin.  So the question is... are you ready?!
